Zero Waste Aotearoa
National Hui 2026
Rehua Marae
Ōtautahi, Christchurch
11-14 October 2026

Nau mai, Haere mai
This is our annual get together, where we share an exciting space of connection, learning, shared purpose and hope.
It’s so important for us to come together at this time. We face with courage continued threats to the health of our land, waters and air. We stand with others to uphold the promise of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Together, we work for a world where no one and nothing goes to waste. But we can only succeed through the strength of our relationships. Relationships with members and allies, as well as our iwi, community and local government partners.
The event will share practical solutions and successes. We’ll connect, weave together our strengths and expand our impact.
So, sae the date and keep an eye out for updates and tickets going live in our newsletter.
Early bird tickets are scheduled to go live in June.

What to expect
Day 1 & 2
Connection days
Join us on Days 1 & 2 for a vibrant mix of celebration, learning, and big picture thinking—brought to life through keynote talks, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and inspiring ZWN Member stories.
These days are designed to widen our lens and highlight how our collective mahi contributes to national and global movements for zero waste and climate action. As we reflect on 25 years of zero waste in Aotearoa, we’ll also look ahead—toward the future we’re building together: one that is waste-free, connected, and community-powered.
Day 1 will wrap up with relaxed networking drinks—a chance to continue the celebrations, spark new ideas, and connect with your new hui friends.
Day 3
Tours
On Day 3, we’ll head out into Tāmaki Makaurau to visit some of the region’s most inspiring zero waste initiatives. Multiple tour options will run at the same time, so you’ll be able to choose the experience that speaks to your interests and mahi.
Check out the tour options here!
Please note: Tours require an additional ticket on top of your Hui
pass. Spaces are limited, so be sure to book early to secure your spot.
